Can Santa Give the Gift of Healing?
Last Saturday I was once again Santa at a local bookstore. A young boy about the age of five or six approached and we had an instant and beautiful connection. The boy had a severe skin rash across the entire top of his lips. It was obviously very sore and he was very self-conscious about it.
After a very heart warming chat, the boy climbed off my lap, paused and turned to me. He looked me in the eye and said, “I want to ask for something that I want more than anything in the world, but I didn’t know if it is ok to ask for it. I said that I would love it if he would share his heart’s desire with me. Then the precious little boy asked me for something no other child has ever asked me for in fifteen years of filling the magical shoes of Santa. The boy came real close to me, then pointed to his severe rash and told me that he had a nervous habit of putting his lower lip over the top of his upper lip and it causes this severe chapping. Then he demonstrated the nervous habit so I would better understand what he was communicating to me. He has tried everything but can’t seem to stop the habit.
And then our hearts connected at a deeper level and we had a most fascinating exchange. An awesome healing energy and love was exchanged between us over the next few moments as we explored the creative possibilities that stood before us. In the end, he was able to find and access what he called a Jedi Master that he felt inside him and he knew for the first time that he would be able to overcome this habit and heal his skin rash.
Tears of awe rolled down my cheeks as this young boy then thanked me and presented me with a star wars bracelet. Later the child’s mother approached me in tears and thanked me for talking so openly with her son about this challenging situation. No matter what one’s beliefs are, this kind of magical exchange warms the heart and heals the body and soul in extraordinary ways.
Can Santa give the gift of healing? Who knows? I have no idea, but what I learned from my visit with this little boy is that when someone has a deep, heartfelt desire to improve his life, he can find something that resides within him that has the power to heal and create an amazing life, no matter what his age may be. And I sense that is true for anyone who has been granted the gift of life.
